Budgeting is a very tricky issue and it is very hard to keep to. I found a great article on MSN.com that has helped with my budgeting more than anything. I’d recommend taking a few minutes to read it. It’s entitled “A simpler way to save: the 60% solution” and it is written by Richard Jenkins. It works for me and I hope it can work for you and your family.

It depends where you are located. I live in a place where a 2 bedroom house on a 5000 square foot lot is $345,000.00 to buy.
$60,000.00 for a family of 5 in an area like that would be enough to pay all your bills, eat and MAYBE save something, if you are in Cook ville Tennessee or someplace like that, you’d be rich, it all depends really.

I have a family of 4 and live on a budget of $1000 a month. Your going to gasp at that figure. However everything I own is paid for. My truck, my home, everything. My monthly stuff is simple cell phone, house phone, electric bill etc is only 302 per month. All thats left is gas and groceries and school stuff for the kids. And I have money left over at the end of the month. On the other hand I have no wife. So without her to help me spend it, I can live on a lot less than most other men. Yes that was a cheap shot at my exwife.
There is a book that will help you out a lot. Its called “Your Money Or Your Life” by Joe Dominguez and Vicki Robin that will help you with your budget. Look on amazon.com for a used one for around 7 or 8 bucks.
