Which of the current candidates has the courage to balance the budget?

Willis Jeffords asked:

No one seems to talk about it. Who will do the best job?

Extra points if the person balances the budget by cutting spending instead of raising taxes.

Congress passes the budget the President either signs it or he sends it back by a veto.

McCain has the know how to put the brakes on earmarks and other liberal give aways Hillary and Obama will continue the same old socialist agenda.

To get a balanced budget you would have to get us out of Iraq, for starters. And not raising taxes is not feasible. We have to pay off this debt before we even start to think about balancing the budget.

It does not take courage, it takes common sense. You cannot spend more than you have. Getting out of Iraq would save a ton, stupid projects would save more.

    Ron Paul.

JOHN McCAIN ——he loves balanced budgets. That is why the republicans were mad because he didnt support Bush’s tax cuts.

John McCain would be the best at trying to balence the budget but he will fail at it. the others will not fair as well as him. The following are some of his campaign promises straight from his website
“Stop Earmarks, Pork-Barrel Spending, And Waste: John McCain will veto every pork-laden spending bill and make their authors famous. As President, he will seek the line-item veto to reduce waste and eliminate earmarks that have led to corruption. Earmarks restrict America’s ability to address genuine national priorities and interfere with fair, competitive markets”

Obama by far. He is responsible and understands how this country works much more than the other Canidates. It will be hard to undo the damage of the republicans but if anyone can do it, its Obama.

well the Dem’s plans are to raise taxes. Isn’t that great, more money leaving our checks, and less to live off of, oh excuse me, less to by the over priced gas. Best way to send a message is to replace the politicians we have now, do not re-elect anyone who is already in congress. This is our best way of making our voices heard.

None of them, because they all pander to ‘feel good’ populism, rather than actually make the needed changes that may hurt in the medium term but have a long-term positive effect.

None ! It is very suicidal.
Remember Old Bush raised tax after he pledged “Read my lips, no more tax” ? He is the only president who did sth to balance the budget, since.

Clinton, simply because if you remember we had a huge surplus when Bill left the white house. That being said … the only real person who can actually balance the budget is you and me by accepting the fact that we need to raise taxes, cut the permanent tax cut implemented by Bush and hope the government finds way to cut funding to certain bills … problem is which one will they cut? will it affect us badly or slightly? in fact there will always be a group of people inflicted by those cuts. There is no secret if you want to balance a budget you have to
    1 make sacrifice
2 find where you can save money
3 spend less and pay more taxes.
Anybody telling you it s because of the war is dreaming … when these two democrats talk about saving the nation millions every months by shutting down the war in Iraq they don’t tell us how much they will spend to bankroll their universal health plan.

No doubt Ron Paul. He’s been voting against unbalanced budgets for the past 30 years in Congress. Yet, in order to keep budgets balanced, we need to leave Iraq, and save our dollar and economy. In that case, we could have the same revenues as we had 15 years ago, and then, lower our taxes.

This is a very good question. Bill Clinton was said to be the only President to balance the budget in the past fifty years or so. He cut spending and knew how to stretch a dollar.
I would think that some of his political habbits have rubbed off on Hillary. I am hoping so anyway because I waited for years to see her run for office.
This info may not be that helpful, but I believe in Hillary. She is an outstanding Lady.
