Would an XboxLive wedding be a good idea? saving money while allowing anyone and everyone to attend virtually?

thismexicanownsu asked:

My girlfriend does not believe this is going to work, i believe that it can be a fun experience and a way to communicate with friends and family across the world, being able to post the wedding online and allowing many people to be there, i want to know if the majority of people would side with me or side with her.

Everyone would just flame you, call you a noob, and question your masculinity because you have a low amount of achievement points

I think it’s rather impersonal…personally I really don’t like it I agree with your friend. The only way i can see…if you two agreed on it and thought it would be the best way to join your hearts in this lifetime bond, then I’d say go for it and i’d wish you the best of luck. However your is apparently not keen on the idea so I would definitely work out something else.

this is a very interesting concept. are you still going to have a ceremony? because if you are, then yes, this is a very good way to get a lot of friends who aren’t able to attend the wedding for various reasons to “attend the wedding.”

Its an interesting idea however I don’t think that it’s appropriate for a wedding.

how many people could really go along with it – are you going to buy game systems for everyone?
personally i would want my loved ones around – but it might be nice to find away to include people who can’t make it virtually

I **** to sound too traditional, but I gotta go with your lady on this one. Weddings are about seeing people face to face – being with family and loved ones – IN PERSON, not virtually. She must be so patient; I am surprised she didn’t leave you when you suggested it. Travel is tough and people get tied down, but you give them notice and hope they can be there. Being there is what makes the event special; your people and her people are coming together to celebrate your matrimony. Your friends’ being there with you is symbolic of supporting your decision to be joined as one, nevermind the fun of a real party – not a virtual one. Here’s an idea: have a wedding and a reception – hook up your virtual xboxlive thing and have it running during the regular traditional reception. Your buddies who didn’t wanna leave the comforts of their mom’s basement can still “be there” for you that way.

It’s very, very creative–and so modern!
Still, a wedding is where a couple shares their special day with the ones they love…not to say that you can’t do it or that it won’t be an intimate celebration.
And for that matter, what about the elder people on your guest list? are you going to service the ones who have never even heard of a game console before? I don’t necessarily know who you’ve invited, but keep it in mind…
Also, think about why your fiancee is doubtful…is she just skeptical or is she just crying out for a traditional wedding? Keep her ideas in your thoughts, cause it is said that the one special day in your life really belongs to her.
I wish you luck and congrats. She’s a lucky girl to have such an innovative (and intriguing!) husband-to-be :)

How spread out are your friends and family? Are they seriously all on different continents and couldn’t make it to your wedding? Because I really feel that your closest friends and family would want to be there in person, and then the whole point of the virtual wedding would be for people who don’t care enough to be there in person to “attend,” and if they are in that “group” of friends then why invite them at all? Invite the people who are closest to you, who actually want to be there, and forget the “virtual reality” until your next video game. Oh, and good luck getting this past your bride, who unlike you has probably been imagining her wedding for years and it’s her day too!
